Creativity is a choice

Choosing creativity … to rearrange the pantry

Creativity is a choice because everyone has ideas. Everyone.

Maybe it’s an idea for a business. Or a song. Or a story. Or a different way to organise the pantry.

We either follow the idea, or we don’t.

We can do some research, see what businesses are already out there, start a business plan, or not.
We can play around with that melody or riff, record it, add some words, try it out. Or not.
We can start writing, make up characters, describe a scene and create a plot. Or not.
We can spend a morning reorganising jars, stacking up tins, labelling containers, or we can leave the pantry just as it is.
Nobody will know. Nobody will care.
Only we’ll know.

Only we’ll know that we wanted to, but didn’t.
Only we can choose to follow step into a creative moment.
And only we’ll feel that niggling; that annoying discomfort of not choosing.

The great thing is, there is always some small step we can take towards creating something we want to create.
Maybe the minute you finish reading this, you’ll take a step.
What would that be?
